Virtual Environments Module – Year One – Sexual Health Clinic

The Virtual Environments module, ( 1st Year FD Design for Digital Media ) – set a brief where students had to create a prototype experience based around an area from the DirectGov website . The students were advised to focus their projects on the areas of ‘Environment & Greener Living’ or ‘Health and Wellbeing’
Sexual Health Clinic
This prototype build, focused on creating a community based space, that would serve as a private chatroom/clinic space for people seeking advice on sexual health matters. This was a project less on creating an interactive experience, but focused on how Second Life could be used as a tool in addition to services like NHS Direct. The students thought about a welcoming space that took advantage of the annonymity of the avatar to discuss sensitive issues, and was based on a lot of primary research they conducted with local GP clinics.
